Do all new welders that are self taught make bird poop welds in the beginning?mine are so bad I won't post them. My practice pieces on flat metal were not bad but welding my 3" pipes together for my downpipe was very difficult, gobbed up mess, hard to position yourself etc....I guess more practice will help, I did learn that cleaning is very important. I neglected some of that in the beginning. It is very cool being able to do stuff yourself and not have to rely on others. One day when I grow up (i am 32 btw) i want to be like zapster Millermatic 180
Reply:Bird crap is to be expected. Tubing/pipe is a lot harder than flat stock. You have to learn to move with the tube, keeping the gun angle and the tip-to-work distance the same.Practice will do wonders but don't be afraid to post the pics. It's easier for us to give you pointers when we can see what you're doing.- Paulhttp://all-a-cart.comWelding Cart Kits and accessories

Reply:Considering that I had an nonwelding employee get into my shop and and get my mig welder(steel wire) and try to weld aluminum to steel there no way that you could post pictures of your welds that were worse than I already seen. Post what you got and maybe someone can help you out.
