I've got a question about machining parts at or through an area that's been MIG'ed.Can a MIG weld be milled (with an end mill), or must it be ground? I'd prefer to use anend mill because it offers high precision, compared with a hand grinder.(I know MIG welds are often harder than the surrounding steel, so I don't knowwhether the tool steel of the end mill bit is sufficiently harder to do the job.)Thanks...
Reply:Sure it can be milledDavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:No problem at all..Have at it..We do it all the time..MIG..TIG..STICK..No matter.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Make sure you prep the metal prior to welding, so you have something to mill down. Vee it out. |
