can anyone give me advice on replacing the bottom section of a front end loader bucket, its used for some heavy duty excavation. ive heard of T 1 and A R plate. i dont really know the characteristics of these steels or what should be used in the bucket part itself.
Reply:Are we talking garden tractor or loader tractor. For any tractor under say 5 or so tons, use mild, but if you have a heavier machine, use an AR plate like AR400, and follow its procedures for preheat, low-hy consumables and post-heat.Owner of Bushwacker Mobile WeldingPictures
Reply:T1 - high stenght steel. Tensile - 115,000 PSI minimum.AR - Abrasion resistant steel Tensile - 190,000 PSI and Brinell hardness from180-200, and 360 - 400 depending on your material seletion. What kind of bucket, size and use(material) /size of machine, etc. Here in the Great White NorthMosquitoes can't fly at 40 below
Reply:If it is a small bucket, make it from mild, and weld on AR-400(and hardsurface) strips in strategic wear spots.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ." |
