I would really like to try tig welding but can't justify the cost of another welder (allready have 2 migs and a stick). Can anyone give me some thoughts and experience and/or recommendations for a high freq unit you connect to a stick welder, and specifically the Miller HF-15-1-WG? Thanks RON
Reply:That can be hooked up to a stick machine. High Frequency,115 input, water and gas controls and is a very good HF unit. John SMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
Reply:These units are going for around 300 to 400 bucks used, new over 800.SA200,Ranger8,Trailblazer251NT,MM250,Dayton225AC,T D-XL75,SpoolMate3545SGA100C,HF-15-1 RFCS-14 When I stick it, it stays stuck!
Reply:can't comment on the HF boxes except to say that while life is easier with HF it's not needed. valved TIG torches are available that will allow you to weld steel and stainless with the 'scratch start' method.not as convenient as an HF start and solenoid gas control etc but a LOT cheaper
Reply:Offshore welding is done with a 400amp Lincoln welder with HW17FV, scratch start. If they tried to put water, HF or gas controls offshore, they wouldd have no welders. JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
Reply:Thanks for the input guys. If I got this HF box would I have enough input from a Miller Thunderbolt 225 AC/DC ? I don't anticipate doing any heavy duty stuff. Some light aluminum and stainless.
Reply:It will work. Its going to sound funny when you use it,but that is normal.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor. |
