is there anyway to form a sheet into a smooth, even roll without using a slip roll? i don't have any metal forming tools at home and don't want to buy one if i don't have to. i can get it done at work, but sometimes i jsut need to do some quick moddifying and the shop is closed. Thanks!later,Andy
Reply:You could heat it on another idem. Like a piece of pipe the same diameter, a barrel, what ever is around. Use a rosebud tip and take you time. Also use a lot of clamps. But it will never be as good as a roll former.

Reply:oh... nothing in particular. i was just wondering if there was a way to do it or not. lik ei said, i don't really have the money to buy a lot of metal forming equipment yet, nor the "satisfactory justification" acording to my fiance. i figured if there was a way to do it, then it woudl open up a lot more door for possible projects. i don't think it'd be much to make one, but it's too tedious and time consuming for me to worry about it right now.thanks guys,Later,Andy |
