I use 7018ac,6011 6013 rods i am pretty sure i have moisture getting into these rods just from storage. maybe not alot but some, my question is do i need to put these in an oven for a while to be sure theres no moisture.i have a small bakers oven i can use for drying with temp from 0 to 450 degrees.how long to dry & at what temp. thanks for your advice.
Reply:Of the rod types you mentioned, 7018 are the only low hydrogen rods that must be kept dry. Check Lincoln's website:http://www.lincolnelectric.com/knowl...nt/storing.aspfor instructions on re-baking rods to drive off moisture. Commonly held belief is that re-baked rods are never quite as good as those that are fresh. YMMV.Last edited by A_DAB_will_do; 11-24-2007 at 08:05 AM. |
