I picked up 2" OD .120 wall stainless tubing from work for free but I really have nothing to use it on.   Is there places I can get a good price for it.    Its about 100'+ of tubing.
Reply:I think here in Gillette, it fetches roughly 30 cents a pound...where you located?  could make some interesting projects with it.... or great TIG practice pieces
Reply:Current LTL scrap pricing for SS is at $.89/lb. (LTL= less than truck load)The 2" OD .120 wall  tubing weighs about 2.88 lb./ft., this would give you $256.00. I hate to say this but I find it hard to believe they let you walk away with almost $300 in material. You have a nice boss! Where do you work? I'd like to get some scrap as well. Reply:Sorry I noticed this thread a little to late today.   I will give you a call on sunday.   Spent way to much time in the garage welding and cutting on the truck for the upcoming sas.
Reply:About the coment on taking the metal out. I wolked for Kraft Foods North America for 7 years and I literal was given thousands in scrap stainless and aluminum. The company is so big they dont actualy sell scrap a company provides dumsters out of the kindness of there hearts and alowed us just to throw the metal in. So if you saw something you wanted all you had to do was aske and they would give you a scrap pass and off you went. The strainges thing I ever got was a pair of augers weighing 2000# for the pair and about 10' long. I pland on making a mailbox stand out of one and scraping one. Eventually the thought of diging a 6' hole got to me (they could not be cut) and I scraped both. They were made from 625 stainless and after some negotiations I got $1.50 a pound and had a little vacation. Steel Thunder Welding LLC.
