Is there any way to weld this ****?
Reply:Grind off the galvi coating good around the weld area and weld as normal steel.  Avoid breathing any smoke/fumes from it, it's hazardous stuff.   Weld in a well ventilated area, like outside.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:ive used 6013, and a respirator, but ive only run into it with home projects helps to grind down to bare metal, keep your head out of the fumes, the zinc coating will give you interesting symptoms if you breath too much in.  what are you welding?Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:for smaller parts, I simply soaked in muriatic till it stopped fizzing, rinsed off and had at it!
Reply:on thinner sheetmetal we use silica bronze (everdue) and have good results, this isnt a very strong weld though
Reply:For trailer work, or old fences, I prefer fluxcore mig on galv. I agree with all, grind what you can, and try not to breathe the fumes. Definitely try to do it with ventilation, or outdoors. If you do it in a shop, open the doors, turn on a fan. Re-coat with spray on cold galv. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:GTRMAN,    Scubaholic mentioned the silica bronze, and here's a website about using iton galvanized sheet.http://www.cadvision.com/blanchas/54...g-brazing.html
Reply:It dosen't matter which process you use, mig, tig, stick, torch, a good respirator should be worn. Take it from the guy who did it for 30 years without one and now carries a puffer...Bob Attached ImagesBob WrightSalem, Ohio  Birthplace of the Silver & Deming Drillhttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/southbend10k/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sawking/1999 Miller MM185 w/ Miller 185 Spoolmate spoolgun
