how to try out welding?

hey guys i wanted to try out welding(any kind) and i don't have a welding machine . so where do you recommend i should try it out.and if i were to buy a welder the problem is i don't have anthing to weld so where and how can i practice?i wanted to try out welding to see if it really is the thing for me.n.b.:i live in houston,tx in case anyone wants to let me try it out feel free to ask me. think of it as free labor .

Reply:i live near wilcrest and memorial(also near wilcrest and westheimer).or in other words west houston.i wanted to go to houston community college but all the classes for spring are filled up. all the other colleges are kind of too far. but if i like welding bad enough  i wouldn't mind the long distance traveli really appreciate the help.
Reply:Hey I might add also to be sure and have a way of cutting steel too..For starters maybe you could buy a grinder ,which you will need anyway, put a cutting wheel on it    that is unless you already have one. weld it like you own it
