Who all is from Ohio? What kind of jobs do you guys have? I live in southeastern ohio. I have found quite a few welding jobs are available but the best ones are in cinci and the dayton area. There are some in columbus also. Most of the decent ones want 2-3 years experience. I am trying to get a job lined up for when I get done with the vocational school at the end of december. I know I will have to work my way up but anyone know of any companies around in ohio that are good to get some experience and get your foot in the door? Thx.
Reply:The best place to start is at your local ABC (Associated Builders and Contractors) weldgault
Reply:I have enver heard of that before.
Reply:Weldgault I dont know of anything like that here in ohio either. We dont even have a safety council ,like they do down there in houston that i am aware of.I work in specialty metals Ti,Ta,Zr,duplex, superduplex s/s,Inconel,hastalloy.The company i work for hires out of vocational schools and trains them.So far i havent seen one that is willing to do anything other than weld. They dont want to grind, clean or prep material. Addicted2Fusion I dont know of many welding companies in southeastern ohio. Most are north and west of you. Only one i can think of in your general direction would be waterworks in Wva. They are field and shop welders there. I've seen them up here in my area, working in local chemical plants.
Reply:I am from Olmsted Falls, near the Cleveland airport. I have a Hobart Stickmate for repairing my bobcat and trailer. So I am no professional by any means.
Reply:I work in the Cincinnati area. A company I used to work for was decent if you like to travel and do a variety of jobs. PM me if you want more info.
Reply:I work for a company that is based out of Cincy, but has a fab shop in Columbus also. There is some travel involved but it's been a good company to me so far, they give pretty good raises. Send me an email if interested [email protected] I think a pipe cert in stick and tig will get u $18 or so an hr to start I have seen people get a $3.00 raise after 6 months |
