I have a Clarke Mig 95 en that claims to have a range of up to 100 amps. I recently picked up a Clarke MIg 125 and from what I saw in the manual specs it saids that its max output amps is 85. I am confused. The 125 mig is much larger than the MIg 95 and yet the Mig 95 has more amp output than the 125?? Help me here. I have to be comparing the wrong numbers some how. Thank youWhitey
Reply:Not knowing anything about Clarke machines, I'll guess that the spec you read was the amperage of it's rated output @ duty cycle, which is typically not the same as the max output.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:I was looking through the manuals and checked the duty cycles. The Clarke Mig 125 has 40% duty cycle at its secondary output amps of 85. The Clarke Mig 95 has a 20% duty cycle at its secondary output amps of 75.How big of a difference is this in terms of power? I fogot to say also that the Mig 95 plainly saids its range goes to 100 amps and the manual for the Mig 125 didn't so the above numbers was what I found on each that could be compared. Thank you.Whitey
Reply:According to that information, the Mig 95 can weld for 2 minutes at 75 amps and the Mig 125 can weld for 4 minutes at 85 amps. The extra 10 amps of power translates into about an additional 1/10 of an inch of metal thickness that can be welded.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op |
