I googled superelto 140 and got gravy's post regarding this unit and price etc.I paid 100 bucks for this welder in 1989, brand new. FYI.My problem is that I can not get more than 5-6 seconds of weld time before it pops the breaker.i've tried the 20A-125v dedicated. It pops.I've tried the 20A-250v dedicated. I changed the plug to do this. It pops, too.I've have changed the switch from 110 to 220, then plugged into the 20A-250v. Pops. Now I've changed it all back to original.I need to weld stuff. What makes this baby work?
Reply:First checked by an authorized repair shop and then, most likely, repaired. JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases. There all here. :
Reply:At this point Gault is right, but before doing that considering the cost of the unit and that my local charges 70 and hour for labor you might be ahead just replacing it. It appears you have gotten your moneys worth out of it.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:I suspected the unit is having some kind of problem and not the electrical wiring.thanks.To graduate from a basic unit like the superelto 140 to the next step up, what would you recommend? Stay with arc or move to wire feed or . . . ? |
