I'm a novice with a PowerMig 180c. I'm practicing before I start my projects. My question: how to ground a small work piece. My clamp is cumbersome on small tubing etc..I don't yet have a welding table (it's one of the projects). I'm using sawhorses and plywood right now. Is it possible to ground via the steel work table if the work piece is in good contact with the table?Ryan
Reply:Yup. This is done everyday in industry.I ground the surface of my table and go to town. I never ground my work although sometimes I have to clamp it to the table to ensure the ground is good. Especially with low amperage TIG jobs.ScottHaul a bike without straps - visit www.mxtras.com to see how!
Reply:you can use vise-grips on the small piece, then attach the ground to the vise-grip
