Reply:I have the whole bending setup from shop outfitters. It is very well made and once you get the hang of it you can fly. Now keep in mind it can be a little demanding lets say you have 100 pickets to twist well sir you wont need to go jogging that evening. But for the versatility of the product and relative ease of use it is well worth it. I bought mine not knowing how much i would use it and now use it almost everyday for this or that.www.burdettenetworks.com

Reply:I've used the Shop Outfitters scroll bender . I got mine about 10 yrs ago and I like it. I use mine with the compact bender set up. I also bought the ring roller and that works pretty good. I've rolled rings using 2" x 1/4" band iron and thats a workout. If you get the scroll bender take a look at there drawing tools , if they still sell them. They save alot of time and material when you are designing your ideas.
Reply:I have HF version. As sold it leaves a flat spot in the transition from inner to the out sections of the scroller. A little buildup and regrinding will fix it. If i ever get to do a lot of that stuff I'm sure the SO is the way to go.DennisThermal Arc 185-TSWMillermatic Challenger 172VictorO/AAtlas Craftsman 12 by 24 LatheEsab PCM-875Wholesalem Tool Mill-Drill
Reply:Well, some people drive Ford Fiesta's, and some people drive Kenworths.Me, I would snap a HF model in two in 5 minutes, and consider a Shop Outfitters a cute little toy. Its all what type of work you do, I guess, and, of course, how much you are getting paid for it.I run a Hebo CNC ornamental iron machine in my shop, with a scroll head on it- and you dont wanna know what it cost. Just figure that its about what a new Honda Civic would set you back. http://www.usahebo.com/check out the video of the scroll machine in action- its pretty amazing.I recently had a job where we had to make somewhere around 800 scrolls, ranging in size from about 8" in diameter to 24". And they were all made from 1/2" round stainless steel that had been hand forged with a texture first. I doubt the shop outfitters would make even one of em- and it would never have come close to those 24" bad boys. The hebo was even breathing a bit heavy- we broke a couple of grade 8, 1/2" bolts in the die one day.For work of that scale, you gotta have hefty tools, and the Hebo is amazing in what it can do.Here is the fence, finished and installed in downtown Phoenix, all 324 linear feet of it, about 2 1/2 tons of stainless steel.
Reply:I've got the whole setup from shopoutfitters and it works great. You can make your own benchmount base if your just buying the scroller by itself.
