A large part of the material I use is used or surplus or drop from a machine shop.  I'm a scrounger.  Old bed frames are nothing more than at least twelve feet of good light angle.  I'm sure a lot of you are too.   For prime stock though, of known alloy, fast delivery.  Online Metals is my first choice.   For eight years I've been buying lots of hex, round and flat stainless, and a lotta brass from them.   It's a little more money than being able to buy it from a steel service center, but I've been happy with their ability to get exactly what I want to me quick. Are there any other really good online sources for small orders of metal?
Reply:with oil bouncing over 100 dollars a barrel, it will be interesting to see what freight prices will be soon.
