I was looking for some mig gun parts and found probably the best deal going on the Lincoln Magnum 100 Spool Gun at this link:http://store.weldersource.com/k2532-1.htmlAccording to my local repair center, who also sells lincoln among others and is the factory authorized lincoln service center, this spool gun works with any lincoln mig that uses the magnum 100 mig gun with no controller required. Just wanted to pass it along in case anyone was looking for one. No I don't have one but somebody might want one.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. Reply:The Lincoln SG100 works with any of the new machines that have the wiring connections for it (PM140, PM180, etc).  AFAIK, it works and works OK for what it is, a light-duty low-cost spool gun to be able to MIG aluminum. It does -not- connect to even slightly older Lincoln small MIG machines (like the 100, 125, 155, 135, 175, etc).  I don't know if a person could even get it hooked up if they were to do major surgery on the machine and try and splice out the power and solenoid relay connections between the machine and the spool gun.
Reply:I would do some research before I grafted that gun onto a non new generation PM 140/180. As Moonrise said, there are some differences and there is also a switch that must be installed in the machine to select between the sg or the regular gun that disables the PM's drive motor. And agreeing with what Moonrise said, they are O.K. I got a PM180C for portable residential jobs (power it with my Ranger 305G) and that is a good little runner. I love it! The spool gun is cute. That's why I got it. It is a novelty to me. It works good for what it is intended for. But remember, it is a $160.00-$200.00 spool gun. Nothing more. Any higher expectations and you may be disappointed.Yeah, yeah, I know you are a weldor too. But, are you a good one?
Reply:I was just going by what the guys who fix them told me when asked if it works with the 155. We will know soon as I have ordered one for my business partner to try out on his 155 (it's just his toy, but it actually works wonderfully well on ornamental iron). I only listed it because someone mentioned seeing one for this price and someone else asked where. I know several have mentioned wanting one and this is the best price I have seen on it. Always looking to pass on a deal if I find one.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:I have one of those for my 180C.  I know somebody who got a better deal than I,  however since he has a 135 it won't work.    Good luck, let us know how it works out.
Reply:They are Lincoln Certified techs and swore it would work, but it would be limited due to the tap control. We are going to try it and if it doesn't work then it becomes a good excuse to upgrade him to a 180C. Good thing the toys he is happy with are cheaper than the ones I am happy with. He likes to work on smaller stuff and I prefer to work on heavy stuff unless I am just playing around. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:Well something happened because they have upped the price to 184 since I posted this. Think we will just skip it and get a real spool gun and control box.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:This morning I used mine for the first time, since I got it a few months ago.  I did a onsite repair on a valet cabinet.  $20 more buck and it will pay for itself.  I performed well 1/4" aluminum on max voltage and 5 wire speed.  zip -zip and I was done. You are probably petter off with a more durable spoolgun if you have the  business.  This is the first aluminum welding job for me ever.  By the way my manual say the weld-pak 125 can use the spoolgun.
Reply:I just wanted to pass the price on as some were interested in it. It's just something he wanted to play around with. Myself I want a big one. I don't like having to wait on machines to cool down, lol.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:What a bummer looks like the price is back to $184.00. I am wanting to get one myself. I guess I will wait and see if it goes back on sale.
Reply:I think weldingsupply.com has them for around 170 right now. I get all of my wire from them. Haven't found anyone that can touch them and so far everything I ordered that said Lincoln on it was shipped direct from Lincoln. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship.
