i have a 8" pipe CS sch 80 to be weld. while doing capping i used 4.0 electrode and complete in 2 runs. how is it effect the mechanical properties of the joint?
Reply:I'm goin to make a wild guess and say that the mechanical properties of the welded joint probly, aside from the base metal composition, depend most on the composition/grade of the filler metal used and the heat input into the joint, provided the weld fully filled the joint, did not have undercut or cold lap at the toes and there were no slag inclusions or porosity. Hopefully someone else will have something more profound to say about it.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:I've used 1/8th 7018 for capping 6 inch sched 80 when testing with a 4 stringer cap. This was destructive testing and have never had a failure yet.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist. |
