i just got my tank of argon and was trying to set it up to my clarke 180EN MIG.heres a link to my welder and regulator so you know just what i have. for better responces...http://store.weldingdepot.com/cgi/we...WE6524P-1.htmlnow...the problem im having.i open the tank barely with the knob turned all the way to the right, wich i think means closed. POOF, pops the hose off. OK, turn in the other way. good. i guess leaft is closed. wierd, but OK.next, i open the Argon bottle slightly. then the regulator. it shoots up past 30 liters/min. and there is air (gas), somehting, leaking from the regulator. but not from anywhere its threaded in. theres this little hole on the shaft leading to the knob to adjust the pressure. and i cant lower the liter/min at all...i have been told to keep it at 12-15. whats the deal???sorry its so long...need some HELP!!!thanks in advance!
Reply:Linky no worky.I would send the regulator back.  Call them TODAY.I buy a lot of stuff from weldingdepot.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:would there we6540 regulator be one of the things you bought from them?i tryed calling a few times. never got an answer. and they never answered my emails, even though it says thats the best way to contact them...theres 2 holes in the shaft with the knob on it. one on top. and one directly below it. kinda like weep holes in a water pump. but when the weep holes leak in a water pump, thats cause the seals are bad in the pump. so is this my identical problem with the regulator? or is this normal???
Reply:ok...they finally answered my call. he said it might be the diaphram on the inside of it. damn it...first time being installed and its already busted...

Reply:figured it out already...i took the regulator apart, and the diaphram had a hole in it. i put some weather stripping sealer on it an turned the diaphram until it was not on that opening. now it works fine. but my gauge is way off. im gonna get a new regulator. i just wanted to see if that would fix it...
Reply:That good news but I was wondering something about your post. You mention argon as your gas. Are you going to weld aluninmum ?CO2 or C25 ( 75% argon/25%CO2 ) are what you are looking for if you are going to weld steel. Just thought I better throw that in.Miller DVI2Lincoln Precision Tig 225Thermodynamics Cutmaster 38Everything else needed.
Reply:yeah...its aluminum
