is it ok to have muscle spasms on dc- tig with the hf on?its stange because the intenity of the twitching correlates wiht the amperage.legs, arm, face, should i be concerned, does this happen to anyone else.
Reply:Hi Freq. on DC does absolutly nothing..I have no idea whats going on..And NO it does not happen to me.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:im concerned eventhough it is not painful.i thought someone here might know something]thanks for the reply zap

Reply:Is it only experienced with THAT welder? The torch lead could have small holes in it, if the lead is draped over your body and there are some worn spots in it you can get lit up a little. But uh, other than that, I dont get muscle spasms from welding.
Reply:Ummmmmmm... Turn the HF off. I don't know about the twitching, I just know that HF is not needed with DC. Miller EconotigCutmaster 38Yes ma'am, that IS a screwdriver in my pocket!

Reply:I have been tagged by the HF when tigging.  It made me dance like John Trovolta for a second or two.  If the HF is bleeding through the insulation like Burnit suggests above, I would imagine you could get the symptoms you are talking about...However, Zap is also right in that you only need HF to start the arc in DC...You don't need continuous HF unless you are doing aluminum with most older-style machines.  If you have a pacemaker or similar device, you shouldn't be around HF anyway.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:I would worry about it if I was you.  It doesn't take much voltage and current to kill you... your TIG welder could drop you in a heartbeat...I have only been shocked once, when my TIG ground wasn't really good, and I was sweating heavily and leaning on the piece I was welding. Zap when I started the arc. Not pleasant. If you are getting shocked then you need to stop and figure out what is wrong.Tim
Reply:Shocks are NO fun . Sometimes very dangerous. to some  people. I have been shocked at times with up to 1000 amps. it felt like a greyhound  bus hit me going 100 mph . I survived  O K , i guess, but somebody else might die with almost nothing. I know that the hi-freq. buzz is no fun ,either. check it out , maybe your torch is defective . Something is wrong , for sure . One thing that nobody seems to mention , is that, when you're(anybody) having trouble in ANY kind of welding , try to get an expert to come to your machine &show you how to do it correctly. On your machine or theirs , whatever works .[SIZE="5"Yardbird"

Reply:regarding post number 8it is not just the current machine im working on and i don't think it's a matter of getting used to it.this has happened with many tig machines to me. When i was in schoool this problem made me so afraid of my welder i asked the teacher. He told me it may be my diet or just me in gerneral. also i have been tiggin 40 hours a week year round for the past two years i think that would be enough time to be "comfortable" around a machine, i mean im not tense when i use it.i belive taking to an expert is a good idea i will definitly take that route.i checked the ground cable and torch assembly and I can't see anything wrongand i dont have any heath conditions or a pacemakeron a related topic has anyone actually heard of a tig welder (the machine) killing someone, i mean while it was properly functioning and the operator was not at error, but the surrounding, circumstance, etc?Last edited by noobiex; 03-20-2008 at 05:43 PM.

Reply:Maybe you have a subconcious fear of TIG welding machines because of something that happened to you in your past...  Did a TIG welding machine shock you as a child?  Were you ever abused by a TIG machine?   Did you see a scary movie about TIG machines when you were young?  Did a bad person in your life threaten you with a TIG machine?MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Thats never happened to me...sounds like you may be getting shocked, not good. The Welder Shop has great deals and reviews on Hobart, Miller and Lincoln Welders.

Reply:Gee Roy, that is quite a collection you have there. All I got is dime on the knee.City of L.A. Iron is taken from the earth, and copper is smelted from ore."Job 28:1,2Lincoln, Miller, Victor & ISV BibleDannyActually, my wrist is considered a "medical miracle" . After the accident I was told I might have 10% use of my right hand. I told them to just be sure the trigger finger worked because I was "checkin out" if I couldn't use my right hand.I found one of the best wrist Doctors in the country up in Boston at Harvard Medical School. He use some new type of procedure and I have 95% use of my hand and wrist. One year to the date after the accident I rode my motorcycle from Montana to Alaska (11,000 miles) with no issues. Everything else in my body aches, but the wrist feels fine..............Roy BDartmouth, Mahttp://www.rvbprecision.comMM 185 MIGDiversion 165Purox W200 O/AGrizzly 9957 MillGrizzly 4030 Metal Band SawGrizzly 1050 Knife Belt SanderJet 1236 Metal LatheCM 14" Metal Band SawTP Blast Cabinet
