Silly question...Anyone know where you can get plastic caps for the ends of square tubing? they sorta just push into the hole. I know I have seen them before but no idea where.Basicly need a cheapo decorative end for square tube legs that also keep them from scuffing the floor or whatever. or anyone have a better idea? I'm making reptile tank stands.I like to party!
Reply:Maybe try msc.com  they have lots of odds and ends weld it like you own it

Reply:Don't know what city your from, but at the place I buy steel from in Mesa, AZ, they have all that stuff.  They sell a lot to guys that fab and install steel and wood gates.  Here's an address:American Metals Co   740 W Broadway Mesa, AZ 85210-1214 (480) 834-1923 Hope this helps,H2Os50
Reply:Try your local hardware store.
Reply:Believe it or not, maybe Home Depot or Lowes will have them. If not, look for a shop that sells fence materials. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.

Reply:What I found as a simple solution when trying to use plastic caps on the ends of tubing is to place a washer in the bottom of the cap for round tube or a piece of sheet metal for the square tubes.
Reply:I'm lost.  What problem was that a solution for?  Sounds intriguing.

Reply:If one's sliding stuff around on the tube ends---then using threaded furniture glidesthat fasten into a welded nut in the tube end is appropriate, rather than using the soft vinyl as glides.Blackbird
Reply:Okay, I see now.  I kept picturing putting a washer inside the cap before hammering it into the tube.  No wonder nothing was making sense!
