Any of you guys ever built an all terrain running gear for a mig machine?  I have a powermig 255 that I'm needing to be able to move around outside the shop, and am thinking up ideas for a running gear.  Just thought I would ask if any of you guys have done anything similar.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:I built a cart for my HH210 and Maxstar.....8" pneumatic wheels on the rear....the fault of it is the front casters.......I move it around in my yard with little to no issues......
Reply:There you go, the big deal is adding pneumatic tires with swivel casters to the front end. A simple swap to pneumatic tires in the back will suffice. The other scheme might be if you want a middle axle having the pneumatic tires with small casters fore and aft when not balanced on the center axle.City of L.A. Reply:Get some of the 10" pneumatic tires from HF. If you don't have an air compressor get one of those too because the tires go flat all by themselves. I did a cart for my little Lincoln wire welder and changed the tires on my air compressor to these and it makes them easy to move but they go flat pretty quick. Maybe Slime in the tires?
Reply:i bought two "noflat" wheelbarrow tires in tractor supply for an oxyacetylent tank cart- was thinking about some pneumatics but onone of these threads someone pointed out that a pneumatic could go flat and let the bottles tip over with disastrous consequences..noflats seemed lots safer.
Reply:Check this  web site they have an interesting all terrain cart.www.allterraincarts.com
Reply:I saw this on the Miller forum some time ago.  I am going to build something very similiar at work for my new PowerMig 300 MP.  Biggest differences for me are: Dual bottles, Shell Ryn cable reels with 100' a side of #2/0 welding cable, and hangers for my remote, foot amptrol, and GTAW torch.Once I get  caught up  on the rest of my projects, I can start on my cart.... Right now, my new welder is still sitting in the shipping packaging, taunting me every time I walk by. Attached ImagesLater,Jason
Reply:I've made a few carts using wheels, tires and the spindles off of a wrecked car. Usually have to make a drop axle type of setup. so the center of gravity isn't two feet higher than normal. But the larger the tires diameter, the easier it rolls over obstacles.Personally, whenever I have to go to our dirt lot out back to weld poles and repair the fence where someone cut their way through, I use the forklift. Put the forks under the machine, "C' clamp the cart to the forks and wrap one additional strap around the whole machine and forklift mast. Then I can go out back, hit a few jumps and get some air without losing the machine! Here's an actual statement which was made by a nosy customer, right after I noticed him pick up a metal part, only to fling it into a wall at incredible speed: No, no,,,, it wasn't hot,,,, it just didn't take me long to look at it! You wouldn't happen to have any ice I can put on this blister would you?
Reply:Golf cart.....

Reply:I saw some neat no flat tires and wheels in Tractor Supply Co. today. The only catch is they cost  53 bucks apiece. They would kind of clash with those Millers, they have red tires.
Reply:My only comment is to stay away from the $5.00 tractor supply 10" pneumatic chinese p.o.s. tires. They are junk. Go flat too much and the bearings shred themselves.
Reply:Thats why you buy cheap tires and use tubes inside them.No deflation problem there.
