Hello, as some of you know, i am getting my o2 tank filled soon and i was wondering how they charge for the gas, and what is a resinable price. thanks
Reply:About 22 dollars for a 244 CF tank around hereJoewww.CummingsHauling.com
Reply:My big 282cf bottle cost me $23.47 the other day. My small 100cf bottle used to cost about $30 to get filled. Yes it sems strange that the bigger bottle costs less than the smaller bottle. I have seen it this way with other gasses. It has to do with handling charges and the fact that I pay a different rate for gas in a large cyl vs a small one.
Reply:$20 around here. +taxThe Welder Shop has great deals and reviews on Hobart, Miller and Lincoln Welders.
Reply:I haven't bought any oxygen since last year so I don't know about current prices. The 244 cu. ft. bottle is the most popular size around here and only costs about 15% more than a 112 cu. ft. bottle. I think the cost per cu. ft. is tied to the amount of time and labor involved in handling and filling each size of bottle. My bottle is is about empty and I have some personal projects coming up so I'll be up to date on the price pretty quick.
Reply:hello, i was wondering how i could tell what size my tanks are. the tank was givvin to me and the previous owner does not remember what size it is. thanks
Reply:Post what the dimensions of the tank are, height and dia. A pict with a scale reference would also help. I remember seeing a chart on tanks somewhere on a website but I can not remember where. Most tanks I can tell by eye after working around them for years.
Reply:hee are to pics. the grren tank in 32 in in diameter. and the brown one is 42 in. Attached Images
Reply:My guess is that the acetylene is a 75cf and the O2 is about 92-100cf. I went out to measure mine, then remembered I loaned them to a friend so he had some extra gas if he needed it for his project.BTW diameter is the measurement across the tank not up and down.
Reply:i know, that what i measured. i used the old string measurement.
Reply:I think you measured circumference with your string. A 32" dia. oxy tank would be unusual.
Reply:thats it i will figure it up later and post the diameter.

Reply:my question now is abou 50 psi low for this cylinder or is it just the user that is making bad cuts? Thanks
Reply:50 psi is low, you need about 50 psi just to drive the regulator. You will know for sure when you are empty with oxygen because the flame will start feathering out into a carburizing flame.time to have it filled my friend.
Reply:i am going to call aplace up tomorrow/ today and see if they will fill it for me. Thanks for all the help.
Reply:The place I take mine to they just swap out the bottles even if you own it. They take care of the hydro testing and I don't have to worry about it. You still own the tank you get.Take a quick look at the top of your cylinder. There will be a date stamp for the hydro. It will be a number X followed by a symbol or 4 small number in a square, followed by 2 numbers XX (year tested), posibly followed by a + and a star. It may look like this say 3#04+ This would have been hydroed in march of 2004 and be good till march of 2009 (good hydro) if it had a star after it it would be good till 2014 (10 year test). If your tank is out of hydro don't be surprised if you get charged to get it tested if they fill your existing tank and return it. If they swap tanks some guys check the dates, others don't.
Reply:Thanks for that additional information. I will check that, but it probably will have to be re-hydroed. It is an old tank. |
