LN-25 what gun to use?

I hear the K126 gun is the only way to go for innershield.     But for MIG,  what different guns can be used?
Reply:Most any mig gun can be used for innershield.  Go to welding depot.com and see what they have.  I have many mig guns, I like the lincoln and tweeco.  Its a personal preference.  Bernard makes a fine gun too.David Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:I agree that any GMAW (Mig) gun can be used for FCAW (Flux Core) welding, both self shielded (innershield), and dual shield (outershield).  The only real questions are specific to your particular application:1)  What is your maximum intended amperage?2)  What length of gun is ideal for you?3)  Would you be better served with a fixed neck or flexible neck?4)  Do you have a particular brand of consumables that you enjoy working with?I, myself, use a 350 Amp Tweco Compact Gold Eliminator, with a flexible neck for everything: GMAW, FCAW-ss, FCAW-ds, and all 3 modes of transfer (Short Circuit, Globular, and Spray Arc) without changing any consumables.  It has worked excellent for me, and I highly recommend it.  I also have a Lincoln Magnum that I have customized a little: It has a shorter, 60 degree curved neck, from a different series, and I use Tregaskiss consumables on it, as they thread directly on, and I prefer them to the proprietary Lincoln pieces.If you are going to use the LN-25 for GMAW Aluminum, take whichever gun you like, cut it down to between 10' and 12', and install a Teflon liner.  It has worked very well for me in the past.Hoped that helped to answer your question.Later,Jason
Reply:The magnum arn't bad guns, has a tregaskis back end anyways. Twecos are good and easy to fix from a repair stand point.For aluminum, we make a universal kit that adapts the miller 30a + wc24 contoller to ANY feeder or cv power source. originally designed for the Lincoln Ranger/Vantage, we found it could adapt to any machine.

Reply:I purchased a Magnum gun from weldingsupply.com not too long ago. Lincoln builds the particular model I got specifically for the LN25. Now I have used the tweco guns basically forever (I think they build Lincolns for them to be honest) and this is the first Lincoln. There is no comparison on this one though. This gun is tough and built to last, very rugged. I especially like the spring strain relief on both ends as a previous owner had kinked the cable on the old one pretty much ruining it. The price was excellent as well. Beat the LWS by over 100 bucks on it, and they don't even carry Lincoln.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.

Reply:Universal kit should be a pigtail adapter to change up between the Miller WC-24 and the power source's amphenol plug.Before you ask.... Yes the amphenol housings and components are relatively expensive, and more importantly so is the technician's experience & time to make sure everything is accurate & correct.I do not posess a fraction of cruizer's knowledge or training, but I used to make up adapters at a previous job to switch back and forth between Miller and Lincoln.  I can't (and won't) quote off of memory, I had the amphenol pin locations mapped out, and I just looked up what I needed.Later,Jason
Reply:I converted my LN25 from fluxcore to hardwire using a Radnor/tweco gun picked up from airgas. 400 amp unit, 15' hose and a spare liner for 175 bucks. Might have been able to beat the price a few dollars but was worth it to walk out with it. Works great.
