Well the question is, what fillet to use when I don't know the alloy? The alloy in question is a antenna mast (moore like tower!) Guytronics 44 (military) 45' x 1.5".  I know it is not "normal" because when I cut a section off on the band saw it took a LOOOOONG time, about as long as SS!  This stuff it HARD! I will be making a top mount to hold some lights and will be welding 3003 AL to the mast.  I would assume that the mast is 6061 or 7075 AL.  Any problems welding one to another? And what fillet?Me!
Reply:4043 filler is an ok choice for most weldable aluminum.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:yes.aluminum cuts much more easy than stainless.
Reply:7000 series of aluminum is generally not weldable.it may be 6061 t-6, which is heat treated and is very tough stuff, but it should still cut ok...
