Just bought an AC welder/generator and trying to find out the best welding electrodes to use.  Purchased some E6013 which seem to weld great and produces a nice looking weld. Also bought some E7018 low Hydrogen electrodes. Noticed the weld appearance is also very good, but getting them to start an arc is tough. Need some advice on which electrodes to use, I have a AC machine only and I know the choices are very limited. I know this information was brought up in another post but can't seem to find it anywhere. GearSouthbend 13" latheBuffalo 18Warner Swasey #3 Turret latheMiller 180Miller Dialarc Miller Diversion 165

Reply:Well it looks like I was told to purchase the wrong electrode. Well I'll chaulk it up to experience and next time I'll be better informed.Southbend 13" latheBuffalo 18Warner Swasey #3 Turret latheMiller 180Miller Dialarc Miller Diversion 165
Reply:I burn mostly 6011 and 7014's on a.c. 6013's work too, but I'm not a real big fan of them, and as mentioned before if burning 7018 make sure you get the 7018ac rods. DaveI am what I am, Deal with it!If necessity is the Mother of Invention, I must be the Father of Desperation!
