Why on every welding or plasma machine is the ground lead (work lead) always shorter than the other?John
Reply:The theory is that you move around with the torch. That said it pisses me off also that the thing is shorter!  Me!

Reply:cheaper for the maufacturer.  A few less feet on each machine times the number of machines produced equals big money.just my 2 cents

Reply:As far as welding machines go it's mostly the entry level machine that come with leads anyway. My lincoln 155 migpac is the only new welder I've bought that had leads with it. Most people make their leads to suit the work they do.

Reply:I think zap meant the manufacturers. Personally the 10 to 15 foot work lead they typically give you on small machines is only good for a whip.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
