when doing flux core welding does the ground cable or work lead which ever it is called hook to the positive or negetive terminal.also is there a guage i can buy to help me determine how much gas mix is in bottle. large bottle with c02 & argon mix    thanks for your help
Reply:Try some of these.http://lincolnelectric.com/knowledge/articles/list.asp
Reply:The work lead is positive on most flux-cored wires, especially for small machines.  This is why "ground" clamp is technically a misnomer.  But we all say it anyway...The regulator usually has a built-in high pressure gauge, which is the tank pressure.  What does your regulator look like?
Reply:I noticed in your other post you said that you have a western RP regulator. This regulator does not have have a guage. There should be an indicator that inverts to show you when it is empty. You could probably weigh the bottle to kinda see where you are at. The full bottle will be much heavier. I would probably weigh it empty, then check it again when its full if I had to use one of these type of regulator. I dont see another way of checking how much reserve you have.
Reply:Check the AWS # on the lable of the wire and that will you DCEP or DCEN.  JohnSMAW,GMAW,FCAW,GTAW,SAW,PAC/PAW/OFCand Shielding Gases.  There all here. :
Reply:If you are using a self-shielding flux cored wire, most of them run on DCEN.  Also, you mentioned a gas bottle...you don't want to run shielding gas with a self-shielding wire.
