Guys, I am about to purchase a couple of LN 25's for my two service rigs, and was curious if you guys could recommend a good self shielding flux cored wire to run in them.  We are primarily equipment repair, but we are starting to get a bit more into structural.   I'll be running them off of  250 amp Lincoln machines.  So what are you guys running?  Thanks for your opinions.  ~JacksonI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:NR211, works great for me.   I have no trouble feeding it, I run 1/16.  You can go down pretty thin with it.  Look at the spec sheet on the lincoln website.   I ran it in an LN-25 until I bought an old LN-22.  I will get the linkhttp://content.lincolnelectric.com/p...ure/c32000.pdfPage 14 and 15.  I even welded a tailpipe on a bobcat in the field with this wire.   25 ipm 14 volts.DavidLast edited by David R; 05-28-2008 at 10:38 PM.Real world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:Just what David said NR211 is also great for me, i got no problem using it ever since particularly that sheet thickness.phwelder from the country Philippines...
Reply:I run mainly NR211-MP .. I Have been forced to run some 232 lately for a couple of jobs.. The 211 runs so smooth.. My 7 year old can even make one Heck of a bead with it..
Reply:Jackson, I agree that 211 is an easy to use wire and you would enjoy using it. It is fine for most of your in shop work on mild steel under 1/2". Anything else, like the structural you mention, I would go with Hobart Fabshield 21-B. It spec's way better for that type stuff. Look it up.....I have had several inspectors tell me not to use 211 on beam connections and either go with 232 or 21-B. Of the two, 21-B is way easier to use....
Reply:What TEK said ....  And to clarify a little, as far as I know no E71T-11 is approved  where seismic requirements are specified.  When this filler is appropriate, I much prefer Hobart's 21B, followed by ESAB's Coreshield 11.  On the thicker, heavier stuff I generally use Lincoln's NR-232.  Don't overlook ESAB's Coreshield 8, or Lincoln's NR-233, both go on easier than 232.
Reply:211, anyone can run itbut if your going more towards structural learn to use the 232, or if you can, use 233, i hear its much easier to run
Reply:Fabshield 21B  and Coreshield 8
Reply:Hobart Fabshield 21B in .045 works well for me
Reply:you've got some good info so far. I would add that the 232 would be my suggestion for the majority of welding you can run it on almost any structural steel, but having a roll of 211 will come in handy. as mentioned the 211 is only recommended for thicknesses up to 1/2", or anything non seismic. It is a better electrode when welding things that are dirty, used as an embed ( close to concrete), and when coatings are close to the welding area.

Reply:What chart?????  Those electrodes mentioned, are all E71T-8, unless a specific filler is specified by the engineer or the WP, all will meet the standard.Last edited by mark8310; 05-29-2008 at 05:12 PM.
Reply:the statement:ESAB Coreshield 8 and Lincoln 232 233 both qualify as direct replacement to E7018-1i do not believe that E7018-1 is the same as E71T-1, or E71T8 yet it is mentioned as a direct replacement.I'm not in the habit of taking someones word on the Internet or in person. i rely on supporting documentation. They may be similar but stating that it is a direct replacement is "assuming" a lot.
Reply:Where is welderwmn?  She knows cored wire.I can use NR233 in place of 7018, but have fun running it.  Especially up.DavidReal world weldin.  When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
