Anyone ever buy a welder of know someone who did off of Ebay from an Ebay store. Im looking at buying a Miller 350p mig. Its brand new with full warranty. Is there any problem with doing this as far as running into problems with miller on warranty etc.
Reply:Also if I need work done, will my LWS take it in or do I have to send it back to this guy for warranty work?
Reply:I have never had a problem getting repairs done weather I bought the equipmentform the LWS or not. Most want your business. Just because they missed out on the equipment sale shouldn't stop them from wanting the repair business. As long as you can prove the machine is a new machine covered under warranty that shouldn't be a problem either.
Reply:Save your receipt or record of the sale. Since most of the warranties are x years from date of sale its important to prove when you bought it. As far as getting it serviced or warrantied nothing should be different than if you bought it at a normal store.I will say this though, support your local welding store when you can so they are there when you need them. I shopped on ebay and found a few stores that were selling the machine I wanted for the right price. Even though the LWS had prices marked higher, I took this info in with me to and talked to the guys there. Not only where they able to match the price, but they actually beat it by a tiny bit and threw in an extra spool of wire. I got the good price, took it home that day, supported the local economy AND got in good with the guys at the welding shop. Can't beat that!
Reply:Three years (most parts of the machine) from date of sale on receipt. Without a receipt, it is three years from date of manufacture, usually with some grace period unofficially allowed.Any authorized Miller warranty center (which many LWS's are) MUST service it, no matter where you bought it.Now, you MIGHT get better service with loaners or speed or something if the LWS likes you, but they still have to fix it regardless.
Reply:I bought my Miller off e bay, its never broken, but if does I do not expect any issues in getting it fixed.I have found a dealer that will match internet pricing.DonScottsdale, AZwww.savagesun4x4.comMiller 180Hypertherm Powermax 30
