So one project I would like to start, my first project before a welding table is a cart for my tanks. I have a hand truck that I want to use. What I would like to do is use some scrap I bought, 24"LX3"WX I think about 1/8" might be a little thinner. I want to use this instead of chain to hold the tanks to the cart. I want to bend the ends around the tanks with an all thread bolted in the center to the cart. I would like it to fit round and not just an angled bend. Any thoughts on this and how I can get the right bend? I hope this makes sense. Thanks
Reply:Build yourself one of these:http://www.shopfloortalk.com/forums/...ight=bubba+texFigure the circumference you need to go around a tank, add a few inches for tabs, then get to rolling.Be the river, Baby!
Reply:You could bend it cold if you have the right vice, or heat it red and wrap it around something the same size. Coffee can? Or just get a ball peen hammer and take your frustrations out on it and cold forge it.I don't know what you have for tools.DavidReal world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:A MFH as opposed to the BFH and a vice left open place the strap on the opening and tap a way.
