OK I am looking for a pnumatic shear to do some thin gauge sheet metal work. I'm not so much into a nibbler as I mostly want to cut straight lines faster and easier than with manual shears. Right now I am primarily considering the Porter Cable shear but have also thought about 18 gauge Ingersol Rand and Campbell Hausfeld's 18 gauge sheer. The Porter Cable IPX6 19 gauge shear is priced just about right for me though. Does anybody have any experience with it to share?I'll be mostly clipping mild steel of 22 gauge. I do not normally work with thicker stock than this, at least for the purposes of this post I don't (I normally work with smaller than 20 gauge sheet metal or else I'm doing things with pipes and plates).Any thoughts are appreciated. What shear do you prefer?I've given some thought to a nibbler too, but most out there in my price range have cheap dies that I've heard wear out quickly when subjected to a steady diet of mild steel...Price range is $75 bucks, could be a little higher though. I'm shooting low on this one though. |
