Just picked up my new Lincoln

I just went yesterday and picked up my Lincoln Ranger 10,000 from Airgas. I plan to mount it on my F-250 with my bottles and try to pick up a few welding jobs. Hope to make a little extra on my off days from the ambulance service. Any suggestions? I already have a few small jobs to do for several people around here. Naming my buis. Metal Medic, metal fab. and repair. I already have a decent little lathe, I still need to get a milling machine. Hopefully get it soon.

Reply:You will like that thing. I have it's baby brother (Eagle 10,000) and it is a fantastic machine within it's limits. Personally I plan on heading west. Hey John I see you are in Houston. My business partner and I used to live in Clute many years ago. His niece and her family live in Houston. She is a computer consultant to the likes of Duke Energy and such and hubby is a research engineer for Dow (alternative energy sources). Some people get the cool jobs, but the really cool ones weld. Reply:congrats on the new machine.  Every once and a while I am asked to do some work up in that area.  If I have anything come up I'll keep ya in mind.  Yes, Pics would be nice!I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:Yes you can change polarity on any dc machine I have ever seen and sometimes must depending on the electrode in use at the time. I have Lenco quick connects on both ends of all of my leads for easy extension and quick polarity changes.The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.
Reply:thanks alot jolly rogers i've heard of that but was told by airgas rep.  he told me that  i couldn't  with the lincoln 10,000
Reply:After many years dealing with them I have no faith in anything an airgas rep says. He was thinking about the Ranger 10,000 and has most likely never even seen an eagle. Reply:Hello bhandy501 & ALL OTHERS, Well let a word of experience SPEAK TO YOU, When YOU get ALMOST set up, set a reasonable price & let everybody know that it cost YOU to crank that machine & turn that torch on... I got a little BOBCAT & started doing little favors for these two guys, OFF & ON, nothing much, A rod burned here & cut made there & ALL of a sudden I'm working 4 to 6 hrs a day on their little projects, like horse trailers, rodeo pens & not getting paid anything...Then when fuel & bottled gases went, wasn't much else to do till I filled up again...& when & MAY I SAY THAT AGAIN, AND WHEN I PUT A STOP to it. I hurt feeling! & the stuff YOUR ask to weld by NON WELDERS! Well I'm getting pumped up so I think I'll just stop on that one thing!
