I am converting a 1999 Jeep Wrangler into a mini Dump truck and I just started building the subframe. It is tied into the original frame at the coil spring frame loop and then it comes straight back behind the cab. I would like your opinions on the best way to weld the joint where the subframe support joins the original frame. (per the X on the attached picture file). What do you think is the best way to weld that joint and what is the best way to fishplate it? Thank you in advance for your help. (Sorry about the pathetic drawing!)Lohr Attached Images
Reply:Not quite sure how you plan to make this work. The scan is so poor it's almost unreadable. Some picts of the actual vehicle would also help. You say dump truck, but I can't quite figure out how you plan to make this work. Are you building this along the lines of a standard dump where the body is attached to the sub frame and the main frame supports the wheels and is attached to the tounge, or are you building a dump where you just lift the tounge and all the crap slides out? More details would really help so we can make some decent suggestions on how to help attach the members.Good luck.
Reply:In spite of sounding like a wize-azz, I am not...WHY are you doing this? Is there a special need or?DonScottsdale, AZwww.savagesun4x4.comMiller 180Hypertherm Powermax 30 |
