I just bought a 6.5 HP 80 gallon, black max air compressor for 140.00. But I need to get a new motor for it. Do you know where I should look for a new one. Thanks in advance.

Reply:Grainger, McMaster-Carr, Tractor Supply, Surplus Center, should all have applicable electric motors. At retail, retail, retail, and surplus prices, in that order.Or scour e-bay or craigslist and find a motor or a compressor with a junked tank but good motor. The best laid schemes ... Reply:I only get stuff from Grainger that I can't get anywhere else. Man are they high priced. Make sure it is big enough and that it is compressor duty. The difference between art and craft is the quality of the workmanship. I am an artist.

Reply:Ok, here's what you need to do. look on the motor and see if is a standard frame motor or not. There should be a data plate on the motor. It should such info such as rpm, horse power, frame size, voltage, ect. If it has all this info give this info to grainger or any motor shop and they should be able to fix you up. If it lacks info such as frame size it maybe an OEM spec motor in that case you'll have to get it from the manufacture or you'll have to adapt a standard motor to fit. This could require different many mods to pull this off if it is an OEM spec motor. |
