Airco Welder question, i have heliarc 250 and it works great, accept for that as soon i as i turn the machine on, gas flows from my torch, and i can shut the gas off with the post flow switch and i know the switch inside the foot pedal is good, so i was wondering if anyone had any ideas or suggestion for me, i got schematics so i want to try to fix it myself because i dont have money to pay someone else.
Reply:I had the same problem with my miller syncrowave. There is a solenoid inside that controls gas flow. When the pedal is depressed, the solenoid lets gas flow through. If you are under warranty, call your supply guy and tell him to give you another. Thats what I did because I didnt want to drag that thing to a shop.Bill

Reply:I am not sure I understand your problem. With my Syncrowave, the gas will flow for the duration of the setting on the postflow control when I first turn the machine on, but then goes off automatically until I hit the foot pedal to begin work. My solution (to save 10 seconds worth of gas) is to set the postflow control to zero when I turn the machine on, then reset it higher again once the machine is running. My machine has no preflow control.
Reply:i have no pre flow also, and i leave the post flow off, but as soon as i turn the machine on gas flows all the time.
Reply:That sounds like either a stuck relay, or perhaps a control circuit problem. The first should be easy to find and fix. I assume you don't have any experience working on electronics, so need to have a qualified person look at it. BTW, where is Downey?
Reply:Downey is in so cal close to down town LA
