I got a weldcraft wp20 torch with my welder and I'm looking to buy collets, collet body / lenses, cups, etc of various sizes. Is there a difference between brands for these bits? Weldingdepot.com has them in paraweld brand at good prices, but is it worth paying premium for genuine weldcraft parts?
Reply:For consumables like collets, gas lens', plasma tips, I have found most stuff tends to cross check pretty well, and work just fine. I do know some plasma units are really picky about aftermarket tips, but my little Lincoln one works well with off brand tips. My welders don't seem to mind much at all wether Tweeco, miller, weldcraft or speedway make the parts. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:I can't speak to the paraweld brand specifically, however, one difference between brands is the material they use. For example, many low cost brands will use tellurium copper as opposed to leaded nickel copper which has higher conductivity and has a high tensile strength-- which makes it a better conductor and is more durable.-----------------------Carmen Electrodewww.CarmenElectrode.comand the boss blogs at www.JoeWelder.comall powered by www.Arc-Zone.com |
