Can someone tell me what er5356 means. The size is 035 and is in 1.0mm rolls. Is this a standard size weld wire? And what applications would it most be used for. Any help would be appreciated as I do not know. Thanks.

Reply:Yup, a 30 lb spool of 0.035 ER5356 aluminum wire would commonly be used in a wire feed welder, aka GMAW, aka MIG welder.It could also be used for an automated GTAW hot-wire set-up.  The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:30 pound spool of Aluminum!!!  That's gotta be huge!  Standard 12" spools of Al are only about 12-13 pounds.
Reply:Lincoln lists some nominal 12" OD spools of aluminum MIG wire in 16 and 20 lb variations.   Standard 2" 'bore' on the spools, the 16 lb'ers have a spool core diameter of 6-3/4 inch and the 20's are 5-29/32 inch.  All other spool dimensions are the same.But yeah, a 30 lb spool of aluminum would be pretty big!Lincoln's 'big' aluminum spools/reels are 24" OD and have 165 lbs of wire on them!  5356 and 4043 only on those big boys.  The best laid schemes ...
