here is a mind bender for you. looking for a few good ideas for some handrail. first this handrail is on concrete steps on the river. it has to be in five foot sections so they can add or remove them as the river fluctuates. they want to drill holes in the concrete steps to set the sections in. it will be 2 inch pipe. the problem is you can only drill so many holes in one area before you weaken the concrete. there can be no sharp edges or anything sticking up to trip over. and they also want to be able to bolt the sections together.
Reply:Modular sections wouldn't be to tough could take a little time to set up but a jig would help that using 2 inch pipe with two upright posts and two rails (one upper one lower) leave six inches or so past the last post in each section and shorten the next section by that amount and use 1.75 for pegs.Four bolts anchoring each pad on the post and slide the hand rail apart the anchors would be able to be reused especially if they put the bolts back in so nothing else gets in the anchors.
