I replaced part of the shaft that rides inside a bearing on a tiller which is attached to a Kobota L4240 tractor.  I need to see of it is close to being true but the tractor has an emergency kill switch on the seat if the occupant jumps up when the PTO is engaged.  Does anyone know if there is a bypass for this safety feature?-MikeCommon sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:At the risk of getting flamed and run outa town, just put a weight on the seat.Not being a smartass but the safety is put on there for a reason so you can't run the pto and end up looking like a pretzel.Why not get a helper to run the machine, still not a good thing to do with a rotating piece of machinery but at least there'll be someone there to help.I've done similar things, not proud of it but it scares the crap outa me when I hear others doing it.....Mike
Reply:And run the engine at an idle until you see if it's going to wobble.
Reply:It can only be one of two, NC or NO.. Pull the plug off. If it won't run with the plug off it's NC. Use a short piece of 14 awg as a looping strap. If it runs with the plug off then it's NO and problem solved.
Reply:The override of the safety switch is to flip the seat up to the steering wheel and leave it there. This indicates that you have intentionally gotten off the tractor and need the PTO to continue running. When an attachment with a PTO driven hydraulic pump is attached (such as a backhoe) the operator flips up the tractor seat as he gets off the tractor to operate the alternate peice of equipment. There is a short time delay to allow you to get your rump off the seat and turn around to flip it up.

Reply:Hmm.. Try putting the seat up first, then engaging the PTO. If the tractor still stalls then there may be a problem with a safety switch.
