Reply:Do you mean "black iron" pipe? I usually see it used for plumbing, mostly nat. gas. Other than that, I don't know much about it. Somebody will.There's also a difference in fittings (elbows, nipples, etc.). Reply:It stands for "black iron" to me. Common steel pipe that lumber yards and a lot of suppliers sell. In the oil field it is usually just called "black pipe" to destinguish it from other types of pipe.
