Mornin  I went down to get my bottles filled the other day and the man told me that the large bottles Ox. and Ace. are not going to be able to be filled, He said that I would have to go to a smaller bottle in the future. Has anyone else heard this?  I'm in Texas by the wayThanksCrittr
Reply:Where in Tx?? The bottle thing is very area specific. My guys won't sell large bottles...250 cf and up and 145cf on acet, they are rental only...but anything under that they will sell. Another LWS I use in San Antonio sells all sizes and rents all sizes. Its enough to drive you nuts.Plus, if they are owned bottles, I would make them give me the cash difference for the downgrade. My one LWS is about 75 bucks for each upgrade. So, if they made me go from a 250/145 oxy acet to a 125/75 set...they would have to give me $150, 75 for each bottle....or I'd be down the road in a heartbeat. The make you pay for the upgrade...and they should have to pay to make you downgrade....or swap one out for two...something.QamuIs Heg qaq law' lorvIs yInqaq puS
Reply:It's amazing how the different places and locations handle gases. I was told at the place where I bought (supposed lifetime lease) my shielding gas 80' that it would be $62 for 75/25 and $5 hazmat fee. Other place in town said they would fill it for $33....Not even close...Miller 140 w A/SHF Flux Core WelderDewalt Chop SawSmith O/A TorchHarley Electra Glide Classic

Reply:Originally Posted by RojodiabloOne thing you need to look at is: How full are they packing the bottles? My local shop hits me between 30 and 60 for a fill, and it depends on how big the bottle I have is, and how full they will take it for me. They have filled an 80 for me and said" Give me $10, I don't have much pressure for you today" And he was not lying, basically 1200psi was what I got. I can't complain, he is fair to me at least. But Praxair? They at least send out the bottles completely full. Then again, they charge me full price plus a flogging.....
Reply:I've been buying from Praxair for over five years and have gotten to know one guy who became a manager at a new store located nearer to me. He has apparently decided to give me a bit of a break on gas prices for refills of my customer-owned 248 cu.ft. "K" size bottles since he became a manager at the new store, and I am appreciative.  I agree their bottles are always at least full.  Here in CA prices are never cheap, but at least at that store they're better than Airgas.ScottMiller XMT 350 CC/CV w/gas solenoid opt.Miller S-22A wirefeederBernard 400A "Q" gunMiller Spoolmatic 30A / WC-24C-K 200A torch/gas lensWeldcraft WC-18 watercooled torchHypertherm Powermax 30Victor O/A
