Reply:Do some practice tests. Get the machine settings down and make sure you have dry rod.Show us some pics of your practice welds.YOU CAN DO IT!David Real world weldin. When I grow up I want to be a tig weldor.
Reply:CWB flat plate test with backing plate. Yup we did them at school.. First pass is 3. The inspector will mark for where you put you're starts and stops.... 4 " on the butt side and 2" on the grove side is where we had to stop and start at....Run you're first 3 passes as hot as you can. You have to run you're first pass down the fillet side of the plate. Then run one down the groove side. Then another pass straight down the center.Once you get your first 3 passes in you will then work off the fillet side of the joint running as many passes needed to fill the joint. Good Luck and get some practice in !
Reply:what size rod will you be using? I'm guessing 1/8". On 3/8" test plate I would put in a root cover it with a hotpass and then give them a 3 bead cover |
