Reply:I just posted in your other thread. You should use a tig to weld it. The tubing should be made out of cromoly if you plan on using the frame. Do you have welding experience? If not then mig might be better for you. Run alot a practice beads first.Ya gotta spend money to make money!
Reply:Well, In reality if you wanted to construct a BMX frame from an alloy steel, im assuming this since 90% of the ones I had were 4130, you could use any one of the following methods providing you used the proper welding process and joint design for the particular method and material:-OA welding-OA brazed lug construction-OA fillet braze-Mig-Flux core-Tig -Stick -Carbon Arc braze-Carbon Arc weld-Atomic hydrogen-Laser-Plasma weld-Friction weldWhats best? Thats largely a matter of what you have available, and the type of construction you can use. Design for a process, not the other way around, and life will be much easier. For what its worth....if it happens to be a 4130 tube construction, I would use OA or Tig as they offer the most control for single time weldments. |
