I am considering buying a 200 DX. I was wondering if anyone here on the forum has used one of the newer units that has the wave forms and how well or how much difference do these different wave forms make.
Reply:I have used both the Dynasty and the Lincoln inverter. I have an Invertec 205 as my personal machine. The advanced features I can't really get a grasp of how much better they are. I feel they are simply different, and a welder with some experience will get good results with almost standard settings. As for the wave shape, the true squarewave allows a smaller bead for a given amp output with aluminum. Combined with the frequency adjustment, you can get some really focused welds for certain applications. Funny thing is, the more I weld on thick material, I find myself reverting back to settings almost equal to those from the synchro 250. I guess what works, just works!!! But for thin aluminum, between arc frequency and the pulse feature, you can really screw around a lot and find settings that work really well. And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.

Reply:Thanks for the reply. That 200 sounds like it's the sh%#%$ to me, now all I have to do is find the pennies to add that one to the shop.
Reply:Is that the 200 with the alloy welding deal going on???If it is their a heavy bit of kit. Now if your not moving it around at all great, but no good for a contractor. In fact I know several that are cursing about the weight of them. I have used one, not much though, and it did the job for what I needed. But the next one will be the red 260 amp job, now that I liked a lot. But then, I do like the red ones hahaI'd rather be hunting........USE ENOUGH HEAT.......Drifting around Aussie welding more pipe up, for something different.....wanting to get home. |
