Going to be building myself a tig table. What's the best height to build it at?Thanks guys
Reply:Depends on what you plan to be sitting on. Seriously.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:I'll go second (can't keep ahead of Duane). If I'm welding brackets, widgets and gizmos; about 18" above what I'm sitting on. But if you're welding 'big things', that isn't going to work. I like to be 'up close and personal'. I don't think well when I have to stand for long periods, especially with one foot on the pedal. 9-11-2001......We Will Never ForgetRetired desk jockey. Reply:hey thanks guys. yeah i plan on doing a lot of stuff like headers and intercoolers. I'd like to be close to the work. I do have a nice seat, but i'm worried about my arms getting tired.

Reply:As for tired arms, I find it best to get in a comfortable position where I can rest my torch arm on the piece, bench or?? For a little height adjustment I use an adjustable roll-around stool.Edit: Ah - Craig beat me this time.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:Hey thanks guys. Yeah, i guess it's just something i'm going to have to play around with. At the school i went to, they had a welding tree you could move the table up and down. It was pretty trick but the table wasn't big enough for me to rest my arms on it. I might think about building a tree.

Reply:Make your table to the height that you are comfortable working on (what ever you use to sit on) then make a second table half the size of the one you sit at, to sit on top of the first. But make the second one at a comfortable height to stand and work at. And if it will fit under the first one there's a plus for saving space.Miller Thunderbolt 225Millermatic 130 XPLincoln HD 100 Forney C-5bt Arc welderPlasma Cutter Gianteach Cut40ACent Machinery Bandsaw Cent Machinery 16Speed Drill PressChicago Electric 130amp tig/90 ArcHobart 190 Mig spoolgun ready

Reply:This is what i did with my table. The height is at elbow height for me, some might call this "bar" height as in at the pub. I haven't made a stool for it yet.http://www.learn-how-to-weld.com/welding-table.htmlPeter
Reply:I see a bunch of good suggestions, based on personal comfort. I REALLY love "farmersamm"s j-peg though. Just print it and place it over whatever table you build; You'll weld like a champ! ( No really, the affor-mentioned.) |
