Hey Guys, I have ran across a deal on three sets of O/A pony tanks, 60 bucks each. My Question is are they worth bothering with?Miller TrailBlazer 251Miller HF-250-1Miller MaxStar 150 STLHyperTherm PowerMax 380 plasmaLincoln PowerMig 180Millermatic 252Miller Diversion 180
Reply:It all depends on what you plan to do with them.If by "each" you mean as a set of O2and acet. I'd get a set for that price just to have a small portable set for odd jobs so I don't need to lug my 100cf O2/ 75cf acet bottles around. I usually use the bigger set in the shop now and seldom use the 100cf/75cf except if I have to travel. That said the real small tanks give you a very short burn time. They are gerat for making say 10-12 cuts or heating a small item, but don't expect to cut for hours or heat with a rosebud for very long at all. Great if you need to cut off a gate to take it back to the shop to repair or loosen a few siezed bolts. If be "each" you mean per tank so you are looking at 6 tanks at $60 apiece. that seems a sort of fair. Depends on the actual size. I just looked at small acet tanks. my LWS has them filled for sale at $69 for the tiny "MC" size. $89 for a "B" size. I haven't looked at O2 tanks lately, so I can't comment on those.
Reply:Maybe you could use them to make a rather expensive wind chime?Gordie -- "I believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."

Reply:Hey Guys, I went by and checked out the tanks. They were smaller than the add projected. The guy wanted 60 per tank. They were the tanks that require the smaller gage connections...I passed.Miller TrailBlazer 251Miller HF-250-1Miller MaxStar 150 STLHyperTherm PowerMax 380 plasmaLincoln PowerMig 180Millermatic 252Miller Diversion 180 |
