I have a Miller AC/DC Thunderbolt that I bought new about 14 years ago, and I use a Hawke auto darkening helmet... I am satisfied with both. I recently bought a used Miller Maxstar 150... the dual voltage and portability really appealed to me, and it seems to work very well. My problem is that my helmet doesn't seem to darken as quickly with the Maxstar... it is almost as if I am being flashed, and then it doesn't seem to get as dark as it should. Is there anything about the Maxstar that would cause this? Do I need a better helmet? I don't weld a lot, but I would hate to go back to a constant dark hood.
Reply:have you tried changing the batteries?
Reply:I don't see where the model of machine would have an effect on the operation of the hood. Light is light. Are you using alot lower current setting than you normally did with the T-Bolt? If you have a sensitivity adjustment on your lens, try lowering the setting. On the shade, you may have an adjustment for that too. Mine has adjustments for sensitivity, shading and delay time.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:Hey! I have problems with my Speedglas when tigging (CST 280) mig and arc are fine Thanks!
Reply:WoW! Check this helmet out guys! A family owned business makes these in NE. This helmet is dark before the arch every time and you don't have to worry about any electronics going bad. Oh did I mention the clear viewing lens! This is the best helmet out there. And it's under a hundred bucks! Watch this thing in action![ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LIct0kVHIG0[/ame]
Reply:Johnny,That helmet was posted the other day. You think that it might be good...But an oral surgeon would probably NOT give his seal of approval. The joint that your jaw hinges on is actually very delicate and subject to damage. Using this helmet most likely would aggravate situations leading to TMJ. Something I am personally familiar with. My jaw hurts just watching it.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT |
