Reply:I was a "looker" for some time before joining. Would look at other forums also; I was a bit apprehensive about joining because I am not even close to being the welder, craftsman, artisan or professional that many of the people are on this site. I would probably do good to just be a goffer for these guys. But my goal was to become as good as I could and by reading all the information these guys are willing to pass on is invaluable. Sometimes I get frustrated with what I am trying to do and I just back up and see what I am missing and what do I need to do to get passed that point. Usually someone else has encountered the same problem, sometimes more than once, and the information and guidelines these guys pass on is amazing. I am glad I joined..can't give much advise but I sure can ask alot of questions! Can't go wrong with this site. Just My Humble Opinion!

Reply:There is no way for us to tell if a visitor is a repeat or a one-time visitor.  Members can be tracked by numbers of posts, etc.It seems that these days many of the sites I visit are forums (aka bulletin boards) and they ALL want you to join.  Google for something and you wind up on forums or on EvilBay or the forums send you to Craig's List or EvilBay.  From my perspective the net is fast becoming a quagmire of useless information that requires of me to "join" and I don't want to join everywhere I wind up.Gordie -- "I believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant."

Reply:I'm a member but the site logs me out after some time, so I'm sure I show as a guest. I only log in when I need or want to post. This may be the case for alot of the guests.

Reply:I joined quite a while back.  Back in Sept 05 I believe.  Didnt post much back then and still dont to this day.  I usually just read and try to get through the BS to find the useful info.  There were a lot of good guys on here way back then, who were more than willing to help a beginner welder (like I was at the time)....  I dunno what happened to those guys but they're not around any more.Oh and dont anyone take that the wrong way we still have a good bunch here willing to help a newbie out,  its just the guys from way back when are not here anymore !Last edited by Newfie_1986; 02-27-2009 at 08:32 PM.
