Hello,Has anyone used this combo and give me some help setting it up?I take it you must use the extension cord to close the contactor with the mig switch? Also the little clip with the + on it goes to the work? The other lead on the wire feed is conected to the POS output from the XMT-304?Thanks in advance
Reply:I don't know if the S-32S feeder is voltage-sensing or remote-control.If it is voltage-sensing, the thin lead from the feeder with the work cable clamp on it goes to the work (ground). If it's remote-control, then you need the 14-pin extension cable to go from the amphenol connector on the machine to the one on the feeder. Regardless of if it's voltage-sensing or remote-control, the main leads from the XMT go one to the work and one to the feeder, as described below... Put the positive lead from the XMT to the feeder and the negative lead to the work if you're running solid mig wire and shielding gas. Put the negative lead to the feeder and the positive lead to the work if you're running flux-cored wire.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Thought of a couple more things...You didn't state if your XMT is constant-current or constant-voltage, or both. If it is an XMT 304 CC/CV, it's both.If your feeder is voltage-sensing, you need to put the mode switch on the XMT to "Volt Sensing Feeder" mode. If it is a remote control feeder, put the switch to "Mig" mode. If the feeder is voltage-sensing, put the Remote/Panel switch in Panel position. If the feeder is remote-control, put the switch in Panel position to adjust the voltage on the XMT, or if the feeder has a voltage adjust dial on it, you can put the XMT's switch in Remote position and you can adjust the voltage from the feeder. If your XMT is constant-current only and your feeder is voltage-sensing with a switch for current type inside, set the feeder to constant-current mode. If your XMT is CC/CV, set the feeder's switch to constant-voltage mode.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:The S-32S is a Voltage sensing feeder. Heres millers manual on it.http://www.millerwelds.com/om/o1546m_mil.pdfAs DesertRider33 said if your machine XMT is CC/CV use the CV and set the feeder to CV. If the XMT is a CC unit then set the feeder to CC. The little ground clamp goes to the work. |
