Been doing a lot of welding outside lately, and the problem I have is the glare I get inside the helmet. Is there a such thing as a back cover for helmets. Or is that a bad idea because of fumes. I was thinking of taking a piece of fire proof apron and making a little flap for the back, attaching it with snaps maybe??????
Reply:Or go buy a $5 sun umbrella I'd rather be hunting........USE ENOUGH HEAT.......Drifting around Aussie welding more pipe up, for something different.....wanting to get home.
Reply:I've seen pieces of sleeves, aprons, etc. glued, velcroed, duct taped...whatever it takes to keep the sun out! An umbrella works really well, unless the wind is whipping!! Back glare is a problem we all have to deal with. Some do it better than others, I've seen some very neat hoods. I've seen some you couldn't PAY me to use, too.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money. -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
Reply:yeah I might cut a piece of welding apron and use velcro if I need it. Ican attatch to the studs of the headband too.
Reply:When I was adjusting my new helmet last night, I kept getting a distracting reflectionof the tip of my nose in the lens, just from room lighting. I wonder if that stuff thatfootball players use under their eyes would help...applied to the nose.
Reply:Mythbusters proved that a big farse, they actually saw better without the stuff under their eyes
Reply:Hmm. The Wikipedia entry for "eye black" indicates a 2003 study done bytwo doctors, Brian DeBroff and Patricia Pahk, that supports the product's effectiveness:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_black
Reply:Try a pancake hood.Tough as nails and damn near as smart
